Events in Texas
Memorial Day Weekend
Memorial Day was established to honor our veterans alive or from the past. If you see a solder shake his hand or give him a pat on the back. Just to let them know we think of them, and thank them, for all that they have done for our country.
Memorial Day weekend also marks the beginning of summer for most people. Across the state of Texas, there will be a number of events, festivals and activities to help you get summer started the right way.
Traditionally people see Memorial Day as a time for mini-vacations such as camping and road trips, but for those still in town the for weekend of May 29 - June 1, there will be plenty of events going on, all over Texas.
In Austin at Camp Mabry, on May 29 and 30, the public is invited to attend World War II battle reenactments.
This weekend also starts summer break, for most of our school children, so please be careful of them, as they begin they summer fun.

Bluebonnets are in full bloom in Texas!
As you drive down the highways, you'll see cars pulled over on the side of the road, and kids and adults alike, are up in the beds of the bluebonnets. Pictures are being taken, kids laughing, and running though the wildflowers. No matter how your feeling, it makes you smile.
And I am sure there is not, a family or person that lives here, that does not has a picture in their photo album, of their family sitting in a bed of the bluebonnets.
The bluebonnet is our state flower of Texas. There are many fascinating folk tales about them, From the Indians to the early-day Spanish priests gathering the seeds and growing them around their missions.
From the past to the present, the bluebonnets are still a beautiful site to see. If planning a trip to Texas, these few months of growing and blooming time is the best time of all to visit.
We wish the very best to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine Middleton Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. May their lives together be very rich in love, kindness, and understanding.
